More Color Results...

Well, what can I say -- we learned to do something just a little bit differently than what we did on the basement floor...  Two things went wrong:

  1. The base color in the concrete was darker than I expected -- by a long shot.
  2. We added the second color on top too early, and so it mixed so thoroughly, we ended up with a pretty solid color...
So, I'm going to have color put into the footer of the house at the rate of 1 sack per 10 yards instead of 1 sack per 4 yards, and then I'm going to play with adding the color at different places on the footer so that I can see what works and what doesn't...  It will all be buried when we're done, so no one will see it even if it looks terrible...

Having said that, here are the pictures I took today -- and keep in mind that we have not yet added the clear sealer which will help make it a more glossy surface.  Also, as you go down through the pictures, the floating and troweling process is not complete until the last few pictures.  The last picture on this post is a bit of concrete as it was colored in the truck -- with none of the color added (like we added on top of the slab).

We have confidence that we will get a better result on the actual slab...  We will have a guy with us that has used this color method before...
