Finishing the Footer

Well, today, we were able to finish the footer -- even though we got an inch of rain last night!

We will play with the color one more time...

FYI, the colors are Solomon Colors, and it is a powder that is normally mixed into the concrete, but can be sprinkled on top during the troweling to give a varied color. That is what we're trying to do.

We were experimenting with making the powder a liquid by mixing a thick mixture up, and then putting it on top during the troweling. Using the footer for a test slab is good because we don't pay extra for the concrete, but it is very difficult to be able to tell what it will look like with the power trowel on the actual slab. I think we'll end up using the powder instead of liquid on top of the slab, and we'll probably do this in the garage first, so that we will see what it will look like before doing the actual interior slab...
