Back to Kindergarten: Fingerpainting or is that Ketchup?

Well, I did get to play with different colors on the first half of the footer yesterday, and while it was fun, I'm not sure I really like any of the results...

I think the best thing will be to figure out how to get thin lines of powder rather than using either a liquid (mix the color in water before applying) or getting the powder too thick...

Anyway, enjoy these pictures -- keep in mind that this was just a fun exercise that I conducted alone... And, one cannot use the power trowel on the footer, and it was very difficult to get a good idea by hand...  The other thing that made this difficult is that the dirt is so dry, and little crumbs kept falling on the surface making the surface really difficult to work...

We have one more chance to play on the footer today, and then I can even play on the garage slab before we pour the real thing...

These next few pictures were more to show the colors than the desired patterns.  I did try to trowel some of them a bit, but  it didn't work well...  I had let these set too long after squirting the liquid color on the surface, so it just wouldn't do much with the trowel...

In these, I added a little more water, and was able to get these to mix into the surface a little better -- this is closer to what we want, but it was really difficult to work it with the hand trowel...

Hi Scott

So you are using a color in the concrete (added to the truck) and then adding a liquid color on top of that?
