Went out to the site again, and they have the forms done for the garage slab to be poured tomorrow. This is going to be difficult to descrbie why I am doing this, but I am basically overlapping the house slab onto the garage slab -- there is going to be a 7" step down from the house slab to the garage. And, because the house slab is heated, I want to avoid heat loss into the garage, so I'm pouring a 4" ridge about 4" from the edge of where the garage slab will end. That will give us a place to put an expansion joint for insulation between the house slab and that 4" ridge...
So, here are some pictures. The first is of the forms for this ridge, and the second is just where the boards are covering the garage doors where the slab will pour out over onto the foundation walls.
The forms between the garage and living slab.
The boards in the garage door openings (and stuff just sitting on the rock).
The other garage door openings.
