Soffit in the Wind

Well, we lost three pieces of soffit in the high winds last night...  Without my daughter here to help me, I would have lost the soffit from the entire deck!

Here are some pics this morning of how we secured the next piece so it wouldn't continue ripping off...  The 2x4's standing up are on the top corner of concrete blocks -- one of which Breanna carried out to me...  I was inside on a ladder holding the next piece on, and Breanna went outside (decided the solution on her own) to hold a 2x4 up under the edge to give me time to run out and hold it while she ran to get a concrete block.  Then, I had her hold that from slipping while I ran and got those three 4' boards to nail them up to the nailers so the next piece couldn't blow off.  Then, we had time to put the 2x4s up against the ends of the soffit...  All of this in 40MPH wind with gusts up to 65!  The rest of the house is fine this morning...

Way to go guys---saving the deck roof soffet. The last picture also shows those new garage doors from the outside. Very nice! It's so exciting.
